Why can't I apply for a DTV visa from Thailand if I'm a Russian freelancer in South Korea?

Hi All, with this website [[members only]/) I can see I am eligible to apply for DTV visa from South Korea, holding Russian passport working as a freelancer. I wonder why this is not possible to apply from Thailand and which supporting documents they need if I apply from South Korea. I can only stay there for up to 2 months. Is it sufficient enough?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa cannot be applied for from Thailand because it is only available at Thai embassies and consulates, which require applicants to be physically present in the country they serve. Since you’re in South Korea, you can apply there, but note that only residents may have the option to apply for certain visas; it's best to verify with the specific embassy for detailed requirements. You can stay in South Korea for a maximum of 2 months, which is generally sufficient for applying.

You cannot apply for any Tourist Visa from within Thailand and that is what the DTV is

You cannot apply from Thailand because the visa is only available from Thai embassies and consulates, and to apply at a Thai embassy or consulate you must physically be in the country that Thai embassy serves. Therefore you must travel to that country to apply.

The e-visa website ONLY tells you if a country has adopted e-visa, but it does not tell you if you can apply there or not. I'm fairly certain in Korea, only residents can apply for visas to Thailand. I think they "might" allow foreigners to apply for tourist visa, but I'm not sure on that. You need to look at the embassy website, NOT the evisa website, to get all of the details. Each embassy gets to make their own requirements, but the evisa website is the same for every embassy that uses it, so the full requirements are not on there.

here's what I meant. I got it that each embassy has its own rules, so I will message them all, lol. But the process of applying is the same, isn't it? It is going through the site I mentioned in the post. Or I got it wrong? Thanks!

Yes, the process is the same. But just because the system lets you submit an application, doesn't mean you are actually eligible to do so. It's important to find out beforehand since there are no refunds offered on visa applications.

so the plan is to contact them all to make sure they accept foreigners.

For example the Thai embassy website in Hong Kong specifically states that only Hong Kong residents can apply for visas, but someone emailed them and they said foreigners can apply for the DTV with just a copy of the entry stamp to Hong Kong, so it's going to vary widely by embassy.

Another question is how to get an appointment...

@Maxim ********
Why would you need an appointment? Evisa is all online.

I cannot do e-visa in Indonesia. They only accept offline visit.

you have to look at their website. If the Indonesia embasy requires a scheduled appointment, they will tell you how to schedule it

most embassies don't require an appointment. Check the website of the embassy you want to go to. It'll tell you how to get an appointment if it's required.
