Do I need to fill out a TM30 form if I'm a visa exempt traveler staying in multiple hotels in Bangkok?

As a visa exempt traveller getting a covid extension Bangkok immigration is making me fill in a TM-30 today. I am staying in a hotel but I move around all the time. Is that not possible anymore?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A visa exempt traveler staying in Bangkok is required to fill out the TM30 form to report their current residence, even if they frequently change hotels. The TM30 is for registering where you are currently staying, and you need to update it whenever you change your location. While it doesn't restrict travel, you must comply with reporting your address as per Thai immigration rules.

I've never had to fill out a TM 30. But I've had the same apartment for 3 years. Same address as the first time I came.

TM30 is not for specifying where you are "going" to stay in your future. It's only for registration where you are staying "now". Once you travel to a different location, just re-apply TM30 there again. Even you change the hotel every day, technically you are supposed to be reported with those addresses every day. TM30 doesn't limit your freedom to travel.

I guess my concern is about all the fines for not filing. But that really doesnt apply to me if I am staying at reputable hotels.. am I correct?

, correct. And unless you have something to do at IO (or a serious encounter with police), there is no chance for you to be fined. So I would not worry about it until I need to go to the IO.
