Hi, asking for a friend, literally :D We booked flight tickets for Hanoi, it's gettin' serious. So, applying for a DTV Soft Power in Hanoi with a german passport and more than needed money in bank account. Living for years in Thailand in a rental with my friend (Non-Thai). My friend is in the rental contract, I am not.

However - my TM30 card is on that address and that for roughly 8 years. Do I need to include the rental contract in the application? Is it best to offer an explaination that we both live in the house for years and include a photo with it, standing side by side in front smiling?

Or what is best advice?

I really don't like to be a special case, but I am afraid I will not find another person with the same situation, I will try anyway.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a DTV Soft Power visa while living in Thailand but is concerned about whether to include their rental contract, given that they are not named on the lease. They have lived at the same address for eight years and hold a TM30 registration. Comments suggest that including the rental contract may not be necessary if other documents are strong, and some advise using a temporary address in Vietnam for the application. The user is seeking the best approach to support their application.

Where did you read you need to upload a rental contract from a house in Thailand?

It is not mentioned on the application website

Why change your current stay into a DTV. living 8 years in Thailand should be done with 1 year Exensions of Stay, which give twice as long stays and as you already did you know you do not have to travel every 180 days to jump the hoops of the wrong DTV.

BTW TM30, with other words you residing at an address in Thailand becomes invalid when you leave the country, as you do not reside at that address anymore.

I had a rental contract in Thailand before I applied for DTV. I was staying there during my study. I used that address for DTV application but never uploaded the rental contract. I got approved without further request. As long as your other documents are strong, it won’t be a problem.

So you have been abusing the visa system for 8 years?

then why not continue on whatever visa you have that gives 8 years of residency?

You should apply from home for dtv, that's the rule.

what are you talking about? That's not any rule. You can apply for a DTV or most other Thai visas from any Thai embassy.

no. The rules is that you have to apply outside Thailand. Big difference.

The "rules" are written in Thai by halfwits and then badly translated into English and other languages.

The same "rules" say that you can simply extend at immigration for Bt1900 without having to show further documentation but that law (yes, real law) is being abused by immigration.

As ever, This Is Thailand and applying from your home country and not somewhere you just bounce to for 5 days is going to be the safest option.

simplest option is probably to just make a refundable 1 month airbnb booking in the city of your soft power activity, save the visa information, then cancel it

is this what most did. Put their current residence / address as a condo or Airbnb etc within Vietnam
