How to Address the Additional Document Request for Proof of Accommodation While Applying for the DTV Visa?

Hello

I am currently applying for the DTV visa from South Korea and have received an additional document request: "Proof of Accommodation in Thailand: Lease Agreement or Invitation letter to the Royal Thai Embassy, Seoul. (Typed with sponsor’s signature including reason, period, pp no) to certify your stay (Upload Sponsor's PP and ID copy, etc)"

Since this visa cannot be applied for from within Thailand, how is it possible to submit a Lease Agreement? It is unrealistic to sign a rental contract online without even seeing the place.

Has anyone else encountered this request? If so, I would appreciate it if you could share how you resolved this issue. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a DTV visa from South Korea and faces a request for proof of accommodation in Thailand, specifically asking for a lease agreement or an invitation letter. They express concern about the practicality of signing a lease remotely and seek advice from others who may have encountered a similar requirement. Various responses suggest alternatives such as providing a hotel booking confirmation instead of a lease agreement, indicating that such document requests can vary among embassies.

Just got DTV in Korea 2 weeks ago and they didn't ask this. I presume they are starting to limit visas in this way

You're right. The rules seem to have gotten way stricter out of nowhere.😭😭

Send them a hotel booking for a week with a note that you are looking for longer term accommodation once you arrive.

Yes. I will try this way. Thank you

This sounds like a way to refuse the visa for stupid reason… you’re not even supposed to live in Thailand with this visa so how would you have a lease agreement 🙄 some embassies have some crazy policy like this, Malaysia is same.

Yes, this is crazy. I’ve emailed them to ask if a hotel booking would work for now

Exactly. For me, I live with my family so if I were asked for proof of address, it would be my wife's tabien ban. Or the address on the back of my Thai driver's license (which is the same).

with planning, you can live in Thailand nearly full time annually.

@James *******
of course you can but you don’t have to. This means that embassy asking for rental is just non sense, I’m DTV holder traveler full time and I stay in hotels in Thailand and move constantly.

Agreed ✅

Just book a hotel through Booking.com and upload the booking confirmation.

No idea. I also applied at Seoul in August and wasn't asked any of this.

I did submit a letter written and signed by my employer, addressed to the Thai Embassy, stating I was allowed to work remotely from Thailand.

Did you choose you were staying with a Thai national? If so, that's why they might be asking to verify his/her ID.

No, I’ll be staying with my Korean husband. When I applied back in August, I was denied because I didn’t have three months of transaction history. At the time, they only asked for a bank statement, and there was no mention of accommodation. It seems like the requirements have gotten stricter now.
