Can I use a future rental contract as proof of residence for a DTV visa application?

Regarding proof of residence, I suppose the condo rental agreement is acceptable.

I am already living in Thailand with an nonED visa by renting a condo with my name on the rental agreement.

The contract starts from April 2024.

To apply dtv, I would leave Thailand and apply elsewhere, may be Laos or Vietnam.

I was wondering if I can show that contract which started since April for the proof of residence.

Since the contract is since April, would it be an issue?

Should the contract be the month I would be in Thailand through Dtv visa?

Any suggestions please?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires if a rental agreement starting in April 2024 can be used as proof of residence for a DTV visa application, given they are currently residing in Thailand on a non-ED visa. Comments suggest that while the contract may be valid, the user should ensure correct visa cancellation and consider documents required by the embassy. It's mentioned that typically, proof of residency is less strict when applying from neighboring countries.

I mean when you enter Thailand with DTV visa, are they gonna ask you where will you stay in Thailand?

Make sure you properly cancel that visa at Immigration prior to leaving the country or you won’t be able to get a new one. What documents are required depends on the Thai embassy/consulate you apply at.

I'm sorry everyone. I mean no offense.

I'm under the impression that the current visa is automatically cancelled once you leave the country without re-entry stamp.

I'm living with visa from language school currently

So you haven’t obtained a re-entry permit yet and would leave the country, just being stamped out? In that case yes, the visa would get canceled out and you’d lose all privileges under it (which is what you want anyway). Immigration tells you to still cancel it prior to leaving with a letter of the school but you can probably ignore that as the exit w/o RE would do the same.

no. I don't want the privileges anymore tbh if I leave the country. I don't know what made you think that way.

My plan is I would leave the country without re-entry stamp so I would lose ED visa. Then, I will apply dtv visa.

When I come back to Thailand, I will stay at the same place since it is rented for 1 year. I am just wondering if I could use that rental agreement when they ask me where you're gonna live in Thailand.

I was hoping to show that agreement and say I'm staying there.

But it was rented months before dtv application date, would it be valid or not.

Hope you understand now.

Anonymous participant that is correct if you leave without a re-entry permit.

incorrect. Please read the image below.

Embassies and Immigraiton are separate. Just because an embassy gives you a visa doesn't mean you are allowed to have 2. The rule is the rule and unfortunately it might catch up to the individual that didn't cancel his visa prior to getting the DTV. If you are taking advice from some random in a facebook group instead of researching the rules then I can't help you. It's like saying "well he was able to steal the clothes from that shop and he got away with it, so I will too".

🥱 go annoy someone else. This is the second time. Please don’t respond.

good luck. You can’t have two simultaneous visas. And with all (un)due respect, that group is full of shit!

So this requirement is more to prove you are physically in the country that you are applying from (more applicable for the evisa). I believe when applying in a neighbouring country you can show your entry stamp and booked hotel accommodations.

yeah . I was wondering if I can show my rental contract in stead of hotel booking to enter Thailand with dtv visa.
Danny *******
Anonymous participant to enter? You don't need to show anything except the DTV when you enter. You do need to provide the address and contact info of the accommodations you plan to stay in when applying for the visa though

yeah. I'm sorry.

I was referring to what you said.

Can I show my rental agreement as a place of accommodation when I apply dtv visa?
Danny *******
Anonymous participant do you have a rental agreement in the country you are going to be applying from? I just used my Canadian driver's license because I applied while in Canada.
