Hi everyone, I hold an Australian passport and I am in Thailand now. I hope to apply for the MT 5 year visa. Just want to ask a few questions if I may.
- I already have a rental lease for a private property. When I go out of the country to apply for the visa, let’s say December, should I submit the existing lease or change the start date to December and then submit it? Or maybe it’s better to obtain a proof from a hotel?
- Re occupation, is it better to say ‘unemployed’, so that they won’t ask for further evidence such as proof of income?
Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on applying for the MT 5-year visa in Thailand. They have questions about whether to submit their existing rental lease or modify it for their visa application, and whether declaring themselves as 'unemployed' might prevent additional income verification. Comments from the community suggest that providing the rental lease is acceptable, but proof of income may still be requested. There's also discussion about the application process from Vietnam.
You can be asked for proof of income no matter what you put. Even for soft power they want to understand how you will be able to support yourself for 5 years
I wasn’t asked for any proof of residence. I just filled in the address of the gym when asked for ‘address in Thailand’ (the gym does offer bungalows for rent), but they never asked for any confirmation or other proof.
MT visa? You mean the DTV - Muay Thai option (Softpower)? It is ok to submit a lease. You can still be asked to show proof of income even though unemployed depending on where you apply.
