Do I Need to Cancel My Non-B Visa and Work Permit if They Expired During Visa Amnesty?

Greetings!

I have a query regarding the visa amnesty that runs out at the end of this month.

Background: My Non-B visa expired on May 28th, 2020 along with my Work Permit. I had confirmed with the immigration bureau and also HR from my work confirmed with the Labour Department (through phone calls only/ no signed documents) that I do not have to personally go and cancel the visa/work permit which was already expired (and I directly fall into the amnesty).

As there might be changes surrounding the regulations for permission to stay in Thailand, I was afraid if I had not cancelled it personally and want to ask if I have to get any kind of amnesty stamp from the immigration bureau or inform them of my stay as of now? Or just wait for their announcement as suggested by the Immigration Bureau?

Thank you for your time!!

Best regards.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the need to cancel their expired Non-B visa and work permit, which coincided with the visa amnesty period. They were informed by immigration officials that personal cancellation was unnecessary, but with the end of the amnesty approaching, they were unsure if any further action was needed. Comments clarified that cancellation at the Ministry of Labour was required, especially if on an extension of stay.

Thank you very much for the info. I will visit the Ministry of Labour asap.

That information is not correct,

You DID need to go cancel your work permit at the Ministry of Labour & if you were on an extension of stay you would have needed to go cancel that at the immigration office right afterwards.

but, if you were on the original 90 day entry of a non-b VISA you would do nothing with it and it would just run out after 90 days

There is a huge difference between how a visa entry is handled and how an extension of stay is handled when you stop work.

@Tod ********
as i had done an 'extension of 1 year' last year, i do not fall in the original 90 days that could run out as you mentioned. I had called the immigration bureau, asking what i need to do next around May,2020 and they had mentioned i do not have to visit the district immigration office at that period. Do you suggest me to visit the immigration office too? Thank you!
