If I get an OA from my home country (USA), what happens after my 1 year stay in Thailand if I want to continue living in Thailand? Can I get an O visa in Thailand or do I need to leave Thailand and reapply of an OA again in the US?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a Non Immigrant O-A visa and want to continue living in Thailand after one year, you have a couple of options. You can exit and re-enter Thailand before your visa expiration date, allowing you to receive a new one-year stay, provided you have valid health insurance. Alternatively, you can apply for a one-year Extension of Stay at a local Immigration Office if you meet their criteria. However, you cannot change your visa type while still in Thailand, and to obtain a new Non Immigrant O-A visa, you must reapply from your home country.

For OA visa, if you exit & re-enter Thailand before the end of your visa dates, then you will get a 2nd year stamped in - ensure you have insurance for that year
If you leave Thailand and come back into Thailand just before the Enter before/Valid until date of the visa you get a new 1 year of stay OR until the validity date of your health insurance.
You can not change into another Non Immigrant visa inside Thailand.
You may apply for a 1 year Extension of Stay if you can meet the requirements at your local Immigration Office.
a New Non Immigrant O-A visa can only be obtained in the US as you have residency there.
, It is not a visa anymore, it's an extension based on retirement. When you apply for a 1-year extension based on retirement/being over 50 y/o, the requirements are different on what visa your stay started with.
