TLDR : Answer Summary
The length of insurance coverage for the Thai Pass does not necessarily need to match the duration of your Non-O visa. Many users have reported that a 30-day insurance policy is sufficient for entry. Immigration typically only cares about insurance if you are entering on a visa that specifically requires it, such as OA or OX visas. For other visa types, the insurance duration is generally not questioned. It's recommended to ensure that the insurance covers medical treatment in Thailand.

Insurance must be from date on entry, otherwise claims might be denied

I'm in a similar position. Trouble is, I'm returning to Thailand in a couple of weeks but booked a return flight (to UK) for February 2023. I'm concerned that if I get insurance to satisfy TP for just one month, immigration will say length of insurance does not match length of anticipated stay and refuse entry. Has anybody got specific experience of similar??

Many people are in this position with non-O visa including myself. The duration of insurance doesn't play a role. I always use my year-round health insurance and on one of my recent entries the term date was just about to expire shortly after entry into Thailand. There was no issue at all.

thanks for that info. Does your annual cover satisfy the requirements for the Thai Pass? And may I ask which insurance company you use? Thanks.

According to the TAT officials any travel or health insurance from any country that covers medical treatment in Thailand is okay. They have stated so since February/March 2022 (but even last year when Thailand Pass requirements were stricter - my global insurance was accepted for travel).

I have year-round comprehensive global health insurance from French insurance APRIL. I purchased it thought AA insure, broker in Huahin.

many thanks. Very helpful.

My advice would be that if you are saving money on not getting health insurance, dont check your brain in at immigration.

the only time immigration will care about insurance is if you are entering on a visa that requires it (OA and OX). Other visa types or exempt they won’t care nor ask.
