Do I need health insurance to re-enter Thailand on a Non-Resident O visa after a short trip?

Pardons if this has been covered before. I hold a Non-Resident O visa, which means that (so far) I am not required to have health insurance. If I leave Thailand for a short trip and return, will I be required to purchase health insurance before re-entering? Regulations seem a bit unclear on this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question concerns whether holders of a Non-Resident O visa are required to purchase health insurance when re-entering Thailand after a short trip. While there is a need for a re-entry permit to maintain the current visa status, the requirement for health insurance is linked to the Thailand Pass, which is necessary for entry into Thailand, regardless of the visa type. There were concerns raised about insurance requirements particularly for older travelers.

Where how what and how much for how long he can buy an insurance in or outside Thailand has nothing to do with his re-entry using his Extension of Stay.

Thanks, folks. Since I'm over 70 that's not an appealing situation. Maybe I'll stay put!

get a Thai insurance while you can. Once you are past 75, you cant join them any more. But once you are in, always pay small bills, due to a high deductible by yourself, you can stay with them until age 98, and your yearly extension of stay is guaranteed, no matter what

Be sure you have a REENTRY permit in your passport. Must be bought BEFORE you leave Thailand.. 1,000 Thai baht at local immigrarion office.

And you will need a Thailand Pass to enter Thailand.

If you are fully vaccinated you can use Test N Go when you enter....

Thanks, James. I've got a multiple re-entry. God knows why, I haven't gone anywhere in two years.

If you re-enter Thailand you use the re-entry permit that you bought before travel at Immigration or at the airport to keep your currect Extension of Stay alive.

BUT you need an insurance for the Thailand pass, which has nothing to do with a Thai visa.
