How long should my insurance cover be for the Thailand Pass while on an ED visa in Thailand?

Hi, if I'm living in Thailand on an ED visa and need to get insurance for the Thailand Pass, does it need to cover the entire length of my new visa +-180days? Or only 90days - ie. before I do my TM47?

(I won't have a return ticket)

Thanks in advance for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the Thailand Pass while living in Thailand on an ED visa, you do not need to purchase insurance for the entire duration of your new visa (which may be up to 180 days). Instead, insurance coverage for as little as 30 days is acceptable, potentially sufficient to meet the requirements for the arrival process. However, it's recommended to consider adequate insurance that can cover the duration of stay for safety.

Yeah, I have another insurance for Covid but don't want to buy a super expensive one for 180 days, if I can purchase a good one for the arrival process only. So it seems 30days of a good one will suffice, to cover any complications, for the Thailand Pass?

Please let me know how this works out. I have a Non O visa and full insurance. However my insurance does not do specific letters to say they cover covid. I am going to the states soon for a month and I really don’t want to buy 8-9 months of insurance (until the expiration of my extension) I’d never use.

You’re going to want some kind of decent travel insurance for the duration of your stay regardless of whatever the minimum requirements are.

No, you can simply buy for even 30 days
