I am an Australian living in Phuket on a non immigrant O visa which expires August 2022 and will probably go back early next year to visit family for a month.

Currently I do not have private health insurance in Thailand.

Does any body know what length of covid insurance cover I will require on return using Thailand Pass?

Thanks in advance for any advice/experience with this aspect of the TP.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat in Phuket seeks advice on the required length of COVID insurance coverage when returning to Thailand using the Thailand Pass. The insurance duration typically needs to be valid until the expiration of the visa, which in this case is August 2022. There are also ongoing discussions about potential changes in insurance requirements, with suggestions that it might only be necessary for 30 days instead. Comments from the community offer various perspectives on how to navigate the insurance and visa situation.

The other option is to not get a re-entry permit when you leave, therefore your current extension will be invalid, and apply for a new non 0 in Australia or come into thailand on exempt and fulfill the requirements to switch to an in country to non O. Both choices less insurance 90 or 30 days.

As of right now, for the rest of the time remaining on your entry stamp.

Possible changes coming soon to only require 30 days, per Richard Barrow's newsletter yesterday.

Thanks Brandon, that seems logical, only requiring 30 days cover, but then again, nothing to do with any “arm” of Thai Bureaucracy is ever logical is it?

If it's the same as before with the CoE, the coverage will have to last as long as your visa (so will need to cover to the expiration date in August) regardless of if you plan to extend.
