Do children need to apply for a visa extension in Thailand if the adults do?

Hi, one question. We are a family of 5 and we will hit Thailand soon after three years of Corona restrictions. We are permanently traveling and would like to know one thing: We will receive 45 days visa exempt when arriving, right? If we want to extend that it will be another 30 days added to that, right? The question is: Do only the adults have to extend (and pay for the extension) for that but not the kids or do all have to? Please only answer if you know this for sure, preferable if you have kids and gone through the process.

Thank you, cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user asks about visa extension procedures for their family, specifically if only adults need to pay for the extension after arriving in Thailand with visa-exempt status. The consensus in the comments is that while legally all children require an extension to avoid overstaying, they cannot be fined or banned for it like adults. However, an overstay stamp could affect future travel to other countries.

Legally all kids need an extension otherwise they're on overstay. Many people don't bother because kids can't be fined, deported or banned. However, they will get an overstay stamp in their passports, which for Thailand doesn't mean a thing. However, when travelling to other countries, an overstay stamp can (I'm not saying will) raise a red flag. So there's your options

If you arrive before April 1st you will get 45 days visa exempt as long as your passport is from a visa exempt country. After April 1st it's 30 days on arrival.

Tourist extensions are for 30 days from the local immigration office.

I don't remember the age but it might 14 or 15, children under that age cannot be fined or banned for overstaying, so if they are young children and you don't purchase an extension for them, they aren't likely to have any issues in Thailand.

An overstay stamp in the passport might cause an issue in some countries though, so if you're traveling a lot you should take that into consideration.

Oh yes they are younger, oldest one is 9, so that sounds good that we do not have to pay for an extention for them. Actually, I thought they have extended the 45 days visa exempt untill the end of the year but they will start charging 300 baath from June, but not sure....

I wouldn't scrimp on the extension fees. The kids might not have an issue in Thailand but you don't know how an overstay stamp might affect them elsewhere
