TLDR : Answer Summary
Children under the age of 15 do require a visa or extension if they are staying in Thailand, even if they will not face fines for overstaying. While they will receive an overstay stamp if their visa is not extended, there are no penalties within Thailand, though it could complicate visa applications for other countries in the future. It is advisable to apply for an extension for the children if you plan to stay longer.

Ideally you should get an extension for the kids. If you don't they will be on overstay and their passport marked appropriately. There are no repercussions as regards Thailand but there may be if you intend to apply for visas to visit other countries

In a addition to what

has said, if you want your kids to attend school in Thailand they may need to be on a visa/extension.

no they will not be going to school thanka

Kids under the age of 15 cannot be fined for overstay. On exit they will get an overstay stamp in their passport but it would mean no repercussions for re visiting Thailand. Other countries may not hold similar views. There could be potential issues applying for visas for those countries. Whether you choose to apply for extensions for your children is on you.

can you explain what you mean by issues applying for visa in other countries please

I’ve heard others say that they were refused a visa for xyz country because they had an overstay stamp in Thailand. Whether that would apply to a child is unknown.

wtf is going on here? You posting like I have heard from other? You are a troll and should shut up. No effect kids anywhere in the world. Only parents passport and history would have any effects. My son works everywhere in Europe never got a single question about overstay stamp in passport. And he was years on overstay as a kid

Thank you for your opinion. Because your son has worked all over Europe then no one else on the planet has ever had an issue. Ok.

You won't find the information online because it doesn't work the way you think it does.

Yes everyone needs a visa or extension, so your child needs one.

But there is no overstay fine for children under 15 and you cannot be banned from Thailand for overstay while you're under 18.

So if you do not get an extension for your child, when you go to leave at the airport they'll receive an overstay stamp in their passport but will not fined.
