Can I extend my Visa Exempt stay in Thailand by traveling to Myanmar with children under 14, and what are the implications of my passport expiring soon?

Good evening good people. Here is my pretty simple story:

My kids (8,5) and I entered Thailand by air on Visa-Exempt (we are Israeli). We are currently in Koh Phangan. I am planning on getting a 30-day extension in Koh Samui. I have the following questions:

1. Close to the end of my 30-day extension, can I travel to Ranong, Myanmar, stay there for 10 minutes, pay $10 and cross back to Thailand for another 30-day Visa Exempt stay?

2. I have heard reports that young children (under 14) need not worry about extensions, overstay fines and blacklists. Is that true? I have not seen any official document detailing this policy. If such a doc exists, can you point me to it?

3. My passport will expire at the end of this year, Is this a problem?

Some more background information:

In addition to our current stay, this year we've entered Thailand twice by air and left once by air and once by land (no extensions, no overstays). Last year we entered by air on a 60-day tourist visa and extended it by 30 days and left by air (no overstays)

Thank you for your time and effort

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an Israeli citizen currently in Koh Phangan, seeks advice on extending their Visa Exempt stay in Thailand. They inquire about the feasibility of traveling to Myanmar to reset their visa, the implications of their children's age regarding overstay fines, and the effects of their expiring passport. Responses clarify that while children under 15 are not fined for overstays, their passports may receive an overstay stamp, and that crossing into Myanmar for visa purposes requires more than just a brief stay.

Ranong Myanmar is not a land border crossing.

You get a boat and go to kaw Thoung.

And thats a island.

So it will take more than 10 minutes.

just so you know for immigration purposes it's considered a "land border"

Kids are not fined or banned for overstaying but their passport is stamped with an overstay stamp. If you're a tourist that should be of no concern. If you plan on staying here for a long time or if the kids will go to school here, I would keep them legal.

With the Israeli passport you get 30 days Visa Exempt Entry also at land border, but be aware you can only do this twice a calendar year. Children untill 15 year of age are not fined or blacklisted for overstay. I used to have a link to the Thai rules, but as myself can not read it I deleted the link.
