Do children need a visa extension when staying in Thailand, or will they be penalized for overstaying?

We are just a out to get our 30 day extension.

We have been told by a lot of people that we don't need to do it for our children who are all under 10.

We are a little concerned that if we re enter Thailand it may become a problem at a later date.

Does anyone have any information regarding this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is inquiring about the necessity of visa extensions for their children, who are all under 10 years old, while they are planning to get a 30-day extension themselves. They have been informed that the children may not require extensions due to their age, raising concerns about potential issues if they re-enter Thailand later. Commenters clarify that while children under 15 may not be fined for overstaying, it's still advisable to ensure they have the proper visas or extensions to avoid complications, especially if intending to stay longer or attend school.

Children don't get fined or penalty doesn't mean they don't need proper visas/extensions. They do need them. But as above, it's parents' responsibility and decision, if they want their children to be on overstay or be in Thailand legally. All people have different priorities.

The choice is yours...

As your children are under age 15, they are not fined for OVERSTAY. When they do depart Thailand, the Thai Immigration Officer will stamp them on OVERSTAY but with fine waived.

IF you are planning to stay in Thailand and have them attend School, then you do NOT want them to go on OVERSTAY.
