My daughter has arrived in Chiangrai with her 16 month old twin boys they all have there own separate passports they are staying on visitors visa for 30 days but wants to extend this for another 30 days. I guess she can pay the 1,900 baht to buy the 30 day extension does anyone know if she will also have pay 1900 baht each for the 2 boys?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about extending her visitor visa for 30 days in Thailand for herself and her 16-month-old twin boys. It appears she would need to pay 1,900 baht each for the boys' extensions as well. However, according to comments, while extensions are required, children under 15 do not incur overstay fines, allowing parents the option to let the children overstay without penalty.

Even newborn babies need visas. Technically children are staying in Thailand illegally without proper visas or extensions. They wouldn't be penalised doesn't mean they are staying in Thailand legally.

As They are not fined or black-listed because of overstaying, it is totally up to the decision of the parent (or "guardian") to let them stay legally or illegally.

okay this is how that works,

IF she wants to get extensions for the children it's 1900baht each (there's no discount because they're kids)

BUT

With that being said there are no overstay fines for children under 15 and children under 18 can't be banned

So

she can get HER extension and just let the children overstay without any penalty to them or her when they leave the country.

do you know whether it can affect future entry in to Thailand or application for future visas? I'm in a similar situation with my son and my place of work said that he didn't need a visa, but the Thai embassy in my country said that he did. I got him a visa to enter but I will need to extend. He is going to need to come to Thailand a lot because his dad is Thai (not recognized as Thai because he has to have a DNA test to prove it because he was born to a British mother in the uk and we're not married). I don't want to risk anything that might affect his access to Thailand in the future. Thank you.

many thanks Tod it appears that it will be safe to save 3800 baht without any problems from customs, would you do it?

they won't have any problems from immigrations at all stamping out of the country, I know foreigners here and their foreign children are on multi-YEAR overstays with no issues exiting/re-entering at all
