What should we do if our one-year-old has overstayed her visa-exempt status in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
We brought our one-year-old into Thailand in May on visa exempt status (as she has a US passport) and it is now PAST the 30-day deadline. Appreciate any advice on how to remedy this as we are planning to stay for six months, at least. Thanks very much.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user has raised a concern about their one-year-old child overstaying her visa-exempt status in Thailand, as they plan to stay for at least six months. They seek advice on how to rectify this situation. Comments suggest that children under 15 are not fined for overstaying and that it may be advisable for the parents to focus on extending their own visas instead.

What type of visas and/or extensions are you two (the parents) on right now?

Children under 15 are not fined for overstay and children under 18 are not banned for it.

Personally I wouldn't do anything about it and just let them overstay until you leave. There's no repercussions at all other than a stamp in their passport which will NOT affect them comin' back here at all.

You guys (the parents) need to definitely extend what ever visas you are on though. ;)

, IF you check in and can board your your flight here you will not be questioned by passport control stamping into the country.

It's the airlines that ask for proof of onward travel when flying in on a visa exempt entry because if you're denied entry they have to lug you back on their dime. Still seeing as YOU (the parents) will have valid visas I think the airline isn't going to say anything to you about the children.

would I have to show a ticket out within 30 days for kids if we brought them in on a 30 day Visa?

Henry Durrant yeah it's just a long holiday. We'll be traveling throughout SE Asia but Thailand will be our longest stay(3 Months)

I agree with

if you're just staying here on holiday. However if you plan on a lengthy stay and if the child is likely to be educated here, I think it's better to remain legal.

i'd bring 'em in on 30 day visa exempt entries and just let 'em overstay :O

While it is against the law there are no penalties for them or you.

We are planning to come with our 3 kids from the US on a 60 day tourist visa then extend for 30. Should we even bother going through the visa applications for our kids or just have them overstay?

Sounds like the parents are the ones with possible visa problems. Hope they have planned it all out ahead of time. But with the question about the child...hmmmm ???
