The qualification for a METV visa is ฿200,000 in an account six months prior to arrival, my question is, can it be a joint account?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the financial requirement for obtaining a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for Thailand. While some commenters confirm the requirement is ฿200,000 (200,000 THB) in an account, others argue variations exist based on embassy regulations and state that another option should be to demonstrate proof of income. The inquiry centers on whether funds can be held in a joint account, but specific confirmation on this point is lacking in the conversation.

Some embassies have these requirements for a multiple-entry tourist visa, but there is no requirement for the funds to be held continuously in the account, only that they are available over a six-month period. Providing payslips or proof of salary or pension is usually sufficient.

sadly, many Thai embassies have never updated their websites. On some Embassies websites I can still find the requirement that you need 6000 US Dollar or 5000 Euro if you apply for the METV. . . .When you start up the E-Visa application you will find that there is no such requirement . . TiT . this is the typical Thai MfA and Immigration rubbish

Greg Alexander Individual embassies and consulates still apply their own visa practices, even though the application process has been standardized through the e-visa system. Their internal guidelines did not cease with its introduction, and variations in practice still exist.

Peter Slaman Sadly, different embassies give different information on visa and entry requirements. I used to think that the Washington embassy was the best source, but even that one does not have super-clear information about the multiple-entry 6-month visa requirements.

The Oslo embassy web page indeed says there is a 200 000 THB requirement for the multiple-entry visa.

My embassy (Stockholm) says - as usual - pretty much nothing about it.

Annoying, and for next winter I will for sure email the embassy hoping to get definite information (we might aim for METV).

No, I don’t know, but there could possibly be a few more without me having a overview. It is listed together with the requirements for single entry and the 20,000 baht requirement.

Edit, there’s is a 6 000 Euro requirement for multiple under the Thai embassy in Madrid and also as I remember a 5000 Euro requirement under the Thai embassy in Rome.

Jan Kenneth Nesland it is 20,000 THB requirement for three months, not 200,000 THB. At least at most Thai embassies and consulates. The Madrid website is f...g obsolete, has never received any updates
