Can we use a joint account to meet the DTV visa financial requirement in Thailand?

My husband and I are Canadian citizens and want to apply for the DTV visa for Thailand (applying in Canada).

We only have one personal bank account which us joint between the two of us.

Are we both able to use this same bank account to show the proof of funds (THB 500,000) as per the application requirements? Will we need to then have THB 1 million?

Would a cashable GIC be accepted as proof of financial standing?

Any advice would be appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post asks whether a joint bank account can be used to meet the financial requirements for the DTV visa application for Thailand, specifically if they need THB 1 million or if THB 500,000 is sufficient. It also inquires if a cashable GIC would be accepted as proof of financial status. Comments indicate that a joint account is acceptable if it meets the total required funds, and that Canadian consulates are responsive to queries regarding specifics.

Also Canadian, applied thru Vancouver consulate July 2024. We needed the equivalent of 1MM THB in our joint account. It had to be in a regular bank account not investment, crypto, etc. The Vancouver Consulate will respond to emails and calls.

One spouse can be the primary TV holder and can write a sponsorship letter for their spouse for the second application. Ideally you'll show financial stability, more than likely if it's a joint account a million baht would be satisfactory. The Canadian consulates are very responsive so I'd put your question to them and as far as the GIC I doubt it.

Every Embassy/Consolate is different. Luckily, in Canada you can call the Vancouver Consolate and they will pick up the phone. I've called them many times.

I don't expect a GIC would work. It needs to be funds in bank accounts.
