Proof of funds for METV

A friend of mine who doesn’t use Facebook is planning on getting a metv from the states in the next couple of months. One of the requirements is a “copy of bank statement for the last 6 months with minimum balance of $7,000 (every months).”

My friend is wondering if it would work if they were *now added to someone’s account that has had the balance requirement?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired whether a friend, applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to Thailand, could fulfill the financial proof requirement by being added to another individual's existing bank account that meets the $7,000 minimum balance requirement for six months. The discussion highlighted that different Thai consulates in the U.S. have varying requirements and clarified the need for consistent minimum amounts depending on account ownership.

Which US Thai Consulate is he using?

Los Angeles requires $7,000 bank balance for 6 months...

But Chicago says different...

One copy of applicant’s recent bank statement or evidence of adequate finance (minimum of US$7,000).

Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV)

• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident for the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV).

• Your actual Passport or Travel Document.

(Passport or Travel Document must not expire within 6 months and contain at least ONE completely empty visa page) - include a copy of "picture-page" of the passport.

• Visa application form [ Download ] (all sections must be completed including proposed address in Thailand).

• Two passport photos (2” x 2”) color, front-view, taken within 6 months.

• One copy of U.S. permanent resident alien card or a copy of valid US visa with employment verification/ letter proof of full-time student status.

• One copy of airline tickets or itinerary showing confirmed flights - tickets should show multiple entries.

• One copy of applicant’s recent bank statement or evidence of adequate finance (minimum of US$7,000).

• Employment Verification Letter.

• Copy of hotel reservation.

• Fee is $200.00 (Money Order or Cashier's Check - payable to "Royal Thai Consulate-General, Chicago").

I would suggest your friend contact Chicago and confirm one recent bank statement showing balance of $7,000 or more .

The balance has to be above $7000 for all 6 months leading upto the METV application.

The other bank account if it worked would probably require $14,000 if it's two people

Justin Lee it's clear that Los Angeles requires 6 months of $7,000 bank balances....in HIS ACCOUNT. If using a joint account then as said by others.....the Thai way is to double the requirements.

BTW...might I add..a snippy reply to posters who are trying to help not appreciated.

Have your friend contact Chicago as I suggested and confirm they require a RECENT BANK STATEMENT showing $7,000 balance.

I close commenting.

ok regardless the main question was about the time frame in which they would be on the account not so much the dollar amount.

@Justin ****
you can try but if the requirements is for him to have $7000 and it's a duel account like Robert said the Thai way is double if he doesn't have his own money to support himself then Thailand really doesn't want him here sorry but there applying the rules to everyone now

but the other person isn’t going into Thailand, essentially just a co-signer of sorts.
Robert *******
The Thai way of looking to bank accounts is very simple, The balance is divided by the account holders.

Also the other person isn’t applying for a visa. Would a situation such as this still require double?

@Robert ******
the question is about the timeframe not so much the amount.
