TLDR : Answer Summary
The acceptability of a joint bank account for visa requirements in Thailand varies by immigration office. Some offices allow it but require the total funds in the account to be doubled, as only the applicant's share can be counted. It's recommended to check with your local immigration office for specific rules and expectations.

ask your local Immigration office if they accept, and expect that you would need double the amount, 800,000 THB instead of 400,000 THB if it was in your sole name

My immigration officer said yes, but he doesn't like it and the required funds are double. As usual, check with your local immigration office.

Some immigration offices, no they will not accept it.
Some immigration offices, yes, they will accept it. If they accept it, you must have DOUBLE the required funds, as only 50% of the funds in the account are considered yours to use for immigration matters.
