Can my husband and children be dependents on my retirement visa in Thailand?

We are looking into getting the retirement visa. I am 51, my husband 54 and we have 2 kids under 18. Our initial thought was to apply for the visa in my name and have my husband and kids added as dependents.

On some websites this seems a reasonable way to go, but others say that is the spouse is over 50 they need their own repent visa and another 800k in the bank.

Are there any foreign couples who can shed some light on this? Can we go the dependents route?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the requirements for obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand for themselves and their family. They're considering applying in their name and including their husband and two children as dependents. While some sources suggest this is allowed, others indicate that since the husband is over 50, he may need a separate retirement visa and additional funds in the bank. Responses indicate that it is possible for the husband and children to be dependents, provided they follow the proper application process.

I suggest you go to one of those Visa Agencies.

I don't think we need an agency to apply for the visa, only understand if we can or cannot use the dependent part of the visa for the spouse.

There is no requirement that being over 50 means you have to have your own “retirement” visa. You (or husband) would have to wait until the main applicant is on their one year extension of stay based on being over 50 before applying for a non O (overseas) to be able to “piggyback”.

The children could only do so until they are 20.

- will your kids be attending school in Thailand ? If 'yes' then as far as i am aware, they will need an Education visa - its possible you could then be their dependants. Another option perhaps worth exploring (unless i have got it wrong).

They have online school, so we only want to enroll them in Thai classes. Not sure if the education visa would work for kids in that way.

- ah ok. Perhaps your initial plan would be more straight forward. Good luck 👍

they can attend school as a dependent too but if they have their own non-ED visa and extension of stay then a parent can get a Guardian visa. One parent per child.
