Can I transfer my visas and extensions to my new passport immediately after picking it up in Thailand?

Just a quickie , to hopefully confirm .

I’m picking up my new passport tomorrow, and hopefully a letter to accompany it .

I’m told I can wait until my next 90 days are up to transfer my visas / extensions . But can I go straight to immigration and get this done now ? , just to get it out of the way , and is there any cost associated with it . And anything I need to look out for , again I’m guessing they just replicate the current extension I have ( based on retirement) and the same dates ?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can transfer your visas and extensions to your new passport immediately after receiving it. Many users have reported doing this successfully at immigration offices, where they typically need to provide copies of both the new and old passports, along with any relevant visa documentation. There is generally no cost for this service, and it can be done quickly. It's important to ensure that both your visa and re-entry permit are copied correctly to avoid losing any status.

You can and likely should get it done now. I went to Jomtien immigration on Tuesday to get my Visa information/re-entry permit transferred. They made copies of parts of my old and new passport that they needed. Spent no more than 10 minutes there. Picked up my new passport at the specific time (10 AM) two business days later that they told me to come. Everything was there including my multi-entry permit and there was no charge. Was in and out in less than 3 minutes. ไม่มีปัญหา Mai mii penha.. not have a problem. I was surprised that they had already used 2 pages of my new passport with at least 7 stamps for all the information.

Make sure they copy both visa and reentry permit. I didn't check so lost my retirement visa when I left for a trip. Now doing it all again :-(

My non-Imm b is still in my old passport. I got the standard letter from the embassy but all immigration did when I next left the country was put stamp/notice linking my old passport (number) to my new one. All stamps since have gone in my new one no problem.

this is a visa, this is an extension. I would bet dollars to durian they only stamped in a new extension NOT a visa ;)

I think you mean ‘ extension ‘ not visa .

strange to say I am incorrect when what I said is exactly what they did. Reissued and stamped retirement visa in my new passport with same dates as previous one.

@Mar***
you're correct (y)
@I**
you are incorrect, the immigration office does NOT move visa stickers :/ They note you previously held such and such a visa in your old passport and only move extension of stays, re-entry permits and entry/admitted until stamps
