Hello all

I am getting a new passport while still in thailand.

How do i handle the thai side of this? What do i need to do about my current visa stamp.

The usa said they woudl provide what is needed for the thais.

I want to know how long the thai side of things will take and if i can do it here in cnx.

The dates will be close for the return of my new passport and me leaving for a neighboring country (visa is expiring).

Thanks for the insight.

Edit to add:

Thanks for the quick help. Go to know i can do it at cnx immigration right away.

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your visa stamp to a new passport while in Thailand, you need to visit the local immigration office (in this case, CNX immigration). Take both your old and new passports along with a letter from your embassy, which the USA provides for the Thai immigration process. It's advised to carry all relevant documents and photocopies, as immigration officers can request various paperwork. The transfer process typically takes only a few minutes and may cost around 500 baht.

Your US Embassy will provide a letter to the RTP Immigration to transfer your Visa Stamps.

Take this letter, your old passport and new passport to IO and they will transfer the "Visa stamps" for you, for whatever fee is charged.

But as Sebastian has said bring all your documents with you, have them photocopied, sign each copy with blue ink pen. (Even take a copy of your new passport application, you won't need it but you could be asked for it including the receipt, maybe even the envelope it came in...) The IO's basically can ask you for anything!

US side will give you a letter for you to submit to Immigration with your 2 passports, old and new.

I have seen immigration asking the receipt of your new passport… crazy but bring all documents just in case.

I went to IMMI and they took care. 10 min and free. You need a letter from Embassy, sometimes not, sometimes they ask.

Best thing to do is contact your embassy. But normally they transfer into your new passport at immigration.

Take your old and new passport to immigration, they will transfer your stamp to new passport for 500 baht

@Dale ******
there should be no charge for transferring a Visa stamp into a new passport. If there is then it's a scam.
