I obtained my 90 day non o visa through the los angeles embassy... for visiting family... thai wife... what I would like to know... may I start the paper work with the immigration office before the 60 days? It would be for the marriage visa.. one year.... is there any reason why I could not just do it now.. at 30 days in country? my reason... is that I do not want to start construction of our house until I have the one year marriage visa.. thank you...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the possibility of starting the paperwork for a one-year marriage visa in Thailand before 60 days after entering on a 90-day Non-O visa obtained in Los Angeles for visiting family. The community's comments clarified that most immigration offices allow applications for extensions when 30 days or less remain on the current visa, with some offices permitting applications when up to 45 days remain. It was suggested that the user should ensure they have the required finances in a Thai bank account for at least two months prior to the application.

As posters correctly stated at most offices you can file for an extension of stay when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp and a few offices (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Buriram Samut Prakan, Phuket, and others) allow you to do it when you have 45 days or less left on your stamp

What you should do is go to your immigration office and get the hand out listing the requirements needed at that specific office for the marriage extension and while you're there ask them what's the earliest you can file for the year extension

You can apply for a 12 month extension with either 45 or 30 days remaining on your entry stamp, it depends on which Immigration Office you will be using. Do you already have the 400k in a Thai bank account in your name because, if not, it needs to be seasoned for 2 months prior to your application?

make sure your marriage cert is confirmed by local Ampure, if married in Thailand its easy if married abroad a bit more complicated
