TLDR : Answer Summary
You can typically apply for a 12-month extension of your Non-O visa (based on marriage to a Thai national) when you have 30 days or less remaining on your existing 90-day entry stamp. However, this may vary by immigration office.

go out to the immigration office (with your thai wife) and get the official hand out listing what bank letters, documents copies, photos, maps etc you really need to apply for that extension. That way you're not making multiple trips out there because you don't have this or that.
Time will be limited. And yes multiple trips will be frustrating.
Thanks again for your reply.
Much obliged

It depends on the immigration office. MOST immigration offices allow you to apply for an extension of stay when there's 30 days or less remaining on your existing entry stamp
