Can I get a “marriage visa” before my tourist visa extension runs out?

I arrived (the last time) from the USA on Feb 22nd and was automatically granted the right to stay in Thailand for 30 days. A couple days ago, I applied for, and was granted a 30 day extension (cost of 1900 Baht). I am, and have been married to my Thai wife for around two years. Yesterday I finally got enough money in the bank here to meet the financial requirement to apply for a marriage visa (I think). Is it possible for me to apply for, and get a marriage visa BEFORE my 30 day tourist visa extension runs out?

If yes, what’s the process? If no, what’s the best alternative option?

I don’t have a work permit to work in Thailand. I am 57 years old. Thanks in advance for any useful information.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a marriage visa (Non-O visa) before your 30-day tourist visa extension runs out, provided you have at least 15 days remaining on your extension. However, you'll need to meet the financial requirements, including having 400,000 Baht seasoned in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months before applying for the one-year marriage extension. If you need more time, you may also consider getting another 60-day extension to visit a family member while you satisfy the financial condition.

for your comments/answers. George Casey appears to be in a similar situation so good luck to him. So what I’ve gathered is I can get another 60 day extension to visit a family member if money seasoning is required, and after the money (400,000 Baht) has been in my account for 60 days, I can then switch to a one year marriage non”O” visa. Is that right?

Yes that is correct. The non immigrant O visa is good for 90 days and before the end of 90 days, you apply for the 1 year extension of stay based on Thai wife.

0 baht needs to season for 2 months in thai bank account. I am in a similar situation myself. A letter from embassy should be good for another 30 days and thereafter until crisis has passed. I hope!

the money needs to be seasoned for 2 months prior to applying for the year marriage extension and you also need a Non-O initially.
Rex ******
You may change to Non O visa given that you still have at least 15 days remaining in your permit to stay/extension.

If your local office asked for 2 months seasoning, you can ask for 60-day temporary extension for having Thai wife and then apply for the Non O.

400,000 THB in a Thai account if you want to change to "Thai wife" Non-O. The 2 months seasoning requirement is not required at this point. If you want the Non-O retirement, then the amount is 800,000 THB. Again, no 2-month seasoning required at this point. But it is better to check with your local immigration about the seasoning of the funds for the initial Non O visa.
