TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires if they can apply for a one-year spouse visa in Thailand with 400k in their Thai bank account immediately after obtaining a non-O immigrant visa, given their inability to apply for the non-O visa in their home country due to overseas work. Responses clarify that while they can apply for the non-O visa from Thailand, the timeline for applying for the one-year extension depends on the rules of the local immigration office, with most requiring a wait of 30 to 60 days after the non-O visa is granted.

in some countries as is the case is in The Netherlands you can apply for a one year multiple entry visa based on marriage. You must be in your home country at the time you apply. This is ideal and very easy.

Hi guys , going be going to savanhket to do the multiple entry non o , I have few questions if you don't me asking..best way to get there ? What requirements are needed?

Do I need a appointment before arriving ? And just so I'm clear with the non o multiple entry , I have to leave every 90 days and fly back in ? Or do I have leave before the 90 days ? Do I need to go to immigration at all where I live in thailand ? Thanks all

Do I need a appointment before arriving ? No, it's walk in at Savannaket.

And just so I'm clear with the non o multiple entry , I have to leave every 90 days and fly back in ? Yes, leave and re-enter by land or air, up to you.

Or do I have leave before the 90 days ? No, leave on or before the 90 day stamp in your passport.

Do I need to go to immigration at all where I live in thailand ? On this visa no, unless at some point you want an extension rather than exiting and re-entering.

you will need to leave within the 90 days. I don’t think you will ever need to go to immigration

You will apply for a Non-O Visa based on marriage and, if it's multi-entry, you leave and get stamped back in for 90 days everytime to maintain your visa status. You can get up to 15 months in Thailand from this then, if you have 400k in a Thai account, apply for the 12 month extension. There is also a 60 day for visiting Thai family which could be taken before the 12 month extension.

if you get the 12 month multi entry visa from your home country you do not need 400,000 in your account. That was case 6 months ago when I looked at it.

Yes, it's unlimited entries in the 12 moths it's valid for and you get 90 each time to plan to re-enter when the Visa expiry date is within a day or so to get your full 15 months.

You can apply for the 90 day non-O from your home country or from Thailand. Many embassies may require you to show proof of insurance for 90 days if you buy the visa from them though.

As far as when you can apply for 1 year extension, the answer is the same regardless of how you get your non-O visa.

It depends on the rules of the immigration office you'll be using.

Most offices allow you to apply for an extension when you have 30 days or less left on your existing stamp, meaning you would need to wait 60 days after using your 90 day non-O visa.

A few offices like Bangkok, ChiangMai and Phuket allow you to apply when you have 45 days or less left, meaning you would need to wait 45 days after using your 90 day non-O visa.
