Good morning everyone. Assistance needed please.

I am arriving on a 60 day tourist visa obtained in advance here in the UK on the 2nd Jan and will be leaving on the 27th March.

I will be applying for a 30 day extension in my last 30 days of my 60 day visa which will be February. I will be opening a bank account on the 4th Jan. I will be staying in the Seka area, North East Thailand. Once I have my 30 day extension I will be applying for a 12 month single entry visa. I will be living with my Thai partner in her home. As I am required to have 800000thb in my bank account for at least 2 months I won't be able to apply for my 12 month visa until the 4th March. As I have to leave the Kingdom on the 27th March can anyone advise as to how long it takes at immigration to process a 12 month visa. My concern is immigration will take longer than my time allowed to remain in the Kingdom which will be 23 days remaining on my 90 day visa to process my 12 month visa application. My flight back to the UK leaves 27th March. Any advice much appreciated. Thankyou.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 60-day tourist visa and is seeking advice on obtaining a 12-month single entry Non-O visa extension after their arrival in Thailand. They plan to open a bank account and deposit the necessary funds to meet the visa requirements but are concerned about the timing of the application process and the potential for their 12-month visa to take longer than their allowed stay before leaving Thailand. Various comments provide guidance on the process, indicating that the user needs to first apply for a 90-day Non-O visa and that they should pay close attention to the timing of their application as approval can take several weeks.

Will there not be a problem opening a bank.account in January. I have tried 2 today and they both told me I needed a Non O Visa first. But I don't think you can get the Non O without the money in a Thai account?

Retirement

1, request residency

2.Open bank deposit 800,000 ( it have to be out side from Thailand transfer

Keep there for 2 month)

3. Apply non O 90 day about 20 day them you will get stamp

4. get cover letter 800,000 again 45 day before visa expires now you can apply for non retirement 12 month and you will get stamp on the day if everything approved

So very much you have to put 4-5 month 800,000 in there

To apply they require 15 day before your current visa expires

residency? That's very confusing. He has the bank account already, if you mean obtain a 'resident certificate' he doesn't need that to apply for his visa. 'Residency' in Thailand is a completely different process....

and he siad he will open bank on Jan 4

@Anna ****************
then you need to advise him to get the correct paperwork a resident certificate NOT residency

sorry for that for give me, I just try to help and thank to correct my spelling, I am still learning since I am not a English language speaking and thank you for this

I like all the step if he have aready then he can skip it, and go next step

@Anna ****************
My point is that 'residency' is VERY different to a 'resident certificate'.

Please don't lead people down rabbit holes with incorrect terminology.

@Andrew *******
you apply for the 12 months extension when you are in the last 30 days of the 90 day Non-O visa so you're timing seems a bit out. Even if you obtain the 90 day Non-O visa on 1st February you won't be able to apply for the extension until April. If timing is an issue I suggest you apply for the 90 day Non-O visa the day after the 800k hits your bank account from overseas

thankyou for the advice. Appreciated.

@Andrew *******
the other thing to be aware of is that when you apply for the 90 day Non-O immigration have a tendency to tell you to come back when you're current stamp is due to expire so if timing is an issue you'll need to ask them to stick to the 15 (or 21 days depending) to get the Non-O approved

@Andrew *******
'can I do this?' not without doing a change of visa to a "90 day non-o" from your tourist visa.

Then you extend that 12 months.

You need to check your timings
Steve *******
You'll first need to apply for the 90 days Non Imm O visa and when this runs down to around 30 days you can then apply for a 1 year extention of stay. No seasoning of finances is required for the initial visa only proof that the 800k was transferred from abroad. 2 months seasoning of your 800k is required for the extention of stay.
Lyndon ************
You have a step missing...

You have to apply first for a change of visa to a 90 day non-o.

Then (only then) can you apply for the 12 month extension of stay.

NB the 90 day non-o doesn't require any seasoning of the money before you submit the application.

The seasoning is for the 12 month extension

Your initial visa will be 90 days and you'll need 15 to 21 days left on your current stamp to cover the under consideration period. Go to the Immigration Office first to get a list of their requirements as it can vary. You will need a re-entry permit and return within ten 90 days to apply for your 12 month extension of stay.
Lyndon ************
@Graham *****
can't apply for a 12 month extension without first changing that tourist visa to a 90 day non-o. THEN he can extend that 12 months... You can't extend a tourist visa more than 30 days
Graham ******
@Lyndon ***********
Yes, the initial 90 day Visa is the Non-O not a 60 day Tourist Visa then from the Non-O the OP get the 12 month extension of stay.
Lyndon ************
@Graham *****
but he has a tourist visa already as in his initial visa is a tourist visa.
Graham ******
@Lyndon ***********
Yes, then needs the initial 90 day Non-O before the 12 month extension of stay
