Follow up on 800k question: I have a 30 days tourist visa with a USA passport. Do I go to the immigration, ask for the 3 months extension to apply for the non-o visa. After I get the 3 months extension, open a bank account, THEN deposit the 800k and let it sit there for two months. Or do I have to have the 800k in the bank BEFORE I can even ask for the first 3 months extension??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the process of applying for a Non-O visa in Thailand while currently holding a 30-day tourist visa. They inquire whether they need to have the required 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account before asking for an extension or if they can first obtain a 3-month extension and then deposit the funds. Comments indicate that there is no 3-month extension on a tourist visa; instead, the user must convert their visa to a Non-O visa. It is also noted that certain immigration offices require the 800,000 baht to already be in the bank for at least 2 months before applying for the Non-O visa.

If not mistaken You have to apply for the non o 3 month visa with your local Thai embassy in your home country , evidence of 800k is required for that visa . Once in Thailand you have 3 months to open a bank transfer 800k to your Thai bank account and then apply for prolonged extension retirement or what so ever .
For that 90 day initial visa money can be your home country and when you aply extension without agent you need to marinate that money in thai bank. There is lot of play how you want do that. Ask immigration if they write letter to bank you need open bank account for visa then its easier. Otherwise opening bank account can be pain in ass without WP.
sort of but I am asking for clarification on if I already have to have a bank account with 800k in a Thai bank Before I even ask for a 3 months extension. No bank I've been to in Bangkok is willing to open a bank account for me without some proof from immigration that I am going to be getting a non o visa.
You're converting to a new non-O visa, not getting an extension.
You must have the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account already to apply for the non-O visa. In fact some immigration offices require you to have the money in the bank for 2 months already before you apply for the non-O visa (Jomtien is like this).
