Advice please.
Iโm a Aussie that arrived 11th Nov on 60 day tourist visa expiring on 9th Jan. Only got the 800k baht fully deposited in Bangkok Bank 27th Nov. Chonburi Immigration said I need to have Thai wife to get Non O visa but I was given paperwork for retirement visa (Iโm over 50) with all the conditions which one is 60 day with money in bank. I want a retirement visa.
Questions are:
Do I submit the paperwork & show money or will they not ask yet?
Do I just extend tourist visa by 30 days so money with be there in bank for 60 days but I wonโt have the 15 days left on visa by then?
Will I have to leave the country otherwise & return then apply?
TIA for any response ๐
TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat in Thailand with a tourist visa expiring soon is looking for advice on transitioning to a Non-O retirement visa. He has recently deposited the required 800k baht in a Thai bank but was informed by Chonburi Immigration that he needs to hold it for 60 days prior to applying for the Non-O visa. Questions raised include whether he can submit his paperwork early, whether to extend his tourist visa or exit and re-enter the country for a new stamp. Community feedback indicates that the money must be in the bank for two months before applying and recommends leaving the country to re-enter for a fresh visa application. Experts emphasize the importance of timing and having proper documentation ready.
