Uk citizen on 60 day tourist visa. Is my first option to extend to a 30 day extension?

I’m now married to Thai national but my bank funds have not been seasoned yet for two months. I’ve been asked to go back to immigration in Nong Bua between today and the 7th of this month. But I’m not sure if it is for a tourist extension because they also gave me a tm87 to fill out. Thanks for the help

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen on a 60-day tourist visa wishes to know if they can extend it. They are married to a Thai national but their bank funds have not been seasoned for two months. It is advised that they can apply for a 30-day tourism extension, and after that, possibly a Non-O visa based on marriage once the bank funds meet the requirement. The applicant has been given information specific to their situation and has successfully obtained the tourist extension.

Thanks Ellie, have just returned from Nong Bua immigration. They have given me 30 day tourist extension and said I can go back on 6 November to apply for 12 months based on marriage to Thai national. Easy process and very helpful staff. Thanks for your information.

That’s correct. If you are saying I should apply for 90 day based on being married before applying for one year I can go back and ask that question. Not a problem.

, for you to be able to apply for 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai, you have to have a Non-O visa.

You will see when you go back on 6th November to apply for your next step. Get the latest handout of requirements for both of in-country visa AND 1-year extension before you apply for yours if not yet, and be ready for your next application.

, that sounds like something's wrong..

You are saying

1. you are currently on 30 days tourism extension after you entered on 60 days Single Entry Tourist visa

2. You are told that you would apply for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai on 6 November, without applying for 90 days Non-O marriage to a Thai.

Are you sure, they didn't say, instead of 2 above, like this?

you are applying 90 days in-country Non-O based on being married to a Thai, no 6th November, because your immigration office requires you to have funds for two months even for an initial in-country visa (which others usually don't ask), then you will apply for a 1-year extension before early February.

And In case you want to apply for a tourism extension first

@Ellie ******
that’s what I got. By the 6 November my funds will be in the bank for two months and I will go back then. Really appreciate your advice. Thank you

You need to have your funds sitting in your bank account for more than 2 months on the day you apply for a following 1-year extension, not for the initial visa.

Here is the general information for a 1-year extension. You can get their handout for this when you apply for an initial visa, too.

You don't have to have your funds seasoned for your in-country Non-O visa based on being married to a Thai, but you need to have a specific number of days remaining with your current stamp. Most offices require you to have 15 days, but some do 21 days.

If you meet the requirements, you can apply for an in-country Non-O anytime now.

Otherwise, your option will be

1. 30 days tourism extension

2. 60 days family extension (<- better not use up unnecessarily because this usually is one time deal per visa)

TM87 is supposed to be an application form for an in-county Non-immigrant visa for people who entered WITHOUT a visa. If you entered on SETV, the form has to be TM86. Check with your local immigration office.

Here is the general information for in-country Non-O based on spouse application. Get the latest and Nong Bua-specific handout.
