Hi all and a happy new year to all, arrived in BKK on the 10th Dec and stamped in until the 08 jan

TM6 all done.

I made a UK transfer to my Thai account bringing me over the 400k that I need to apply for an Non immigrant O visa married, I tried today to get a 60 day extension, that would of ment the cash in the bank would have exceeded the two months that is stipulated it must be in there for, I was declined, and only given until the 6th feb and told I must go to vientain embassy and apply for the 1year visa there. Not sure to make a border hop or fly there any suggestions please ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shared their experience of being in Thailand on a visa that is expiring soon. They were denied a 60-day extension on their visa despite having sufficient funds in their bank account for a Non-Immigrant O visa, as they were informed they need to apply for this visa at the Savannakhet embassy in Laos instead. Various commenters provided advice on applying for the visa, including requirements, alternative options for border runs, and suggestions regarding travel plans to Savannakhet for a successful visa application.

Also now that you DO meet the proof of funds, you might not need to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa, but just get a 90 day single entry Non-O (either vientiane OR savannakhet will sell that)
Robert *******
Go to the Immigration Office and ask for the hand out with requirements to apply for a 60 day Extension of Stay based on visiting Thai family members, also ask the hand out with requirements to convert your Visa Exempt Entry and following Extension of Stay into a Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai National. Than at home, make the copy, tick the list and continue till all done. Go back to Immigrant and apply for this visa if time enough left on your current Extension of Stay till 7 Feb 2020 or apply for the 60 days Extension of Stay. If you think otherwise, fine. You can not get the 1 year Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai national in Vientiane as you think but only at Savannakhet in Laos, but also there you need to meet the requirements, not taking friends and thinking it is all good.

Proof of funds is mentioned on the hand out to apply for the conversion into a Non Immigrant O visa at the Immigration Office, no funds needed for Extension of Stay for 60 days.

Savannakhet it is then I will contact them shortly and ask what I need to bring with me, thanks for clearing that up.

I usually fly to udon thani then take minivan to the border. Once over the border take the local bus to central Vientiane. Be warned...you must prebook an appointment at the Vientiane office. There are no walk ins. Best to book 2 weeks or more before you go there as slots are limited. Good luck.

Vientiane doesn't sell a 1 year Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai wife. You mean Savannakeht?

So Jomtien would not give you 60 days family visit extension of stay?
Ron *******
@James *******
Si racha is a different office to Jomtien although it comes under Chonburi.

Chonburi is a big province and some addresses come under Si racha

And what kind of documents did you have with you to apply for this 60 day Extension of Stay based on visiting Family?
Robert *******
I know you did not meet the requirements and that is the reason you have only the 30 day Extension of Stay.

@Robert ******
I think they where the necessary ones, as i took a thai friend, along with my wife but would only issue me a 30 day and not a 60 day because the funds in my account fall short by two days
Benjamin ******
what immigration office are you using? It looks like you were stamped on a 30 day visa exempt, and you got a 30 day extension of stay.
