Hi All,

I arrived in Oct 2022 on 90 day single entry O visa (married to Thai). I did the 2 month extension in Jan 2023. Circumstances have now changed. Can I now do the 1 year married to a Thai visa in March 2023? UK passport holder.

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about transitioning from a 90-day single entry O visa, extended for two months, to a 1-year visa based on marriage to a Thai national. Responses highlighted the importance of meeting specific requirements, such as maintaining 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account for two full months prior to applying. Alternative options suggested involved applying for a NON-O visa at the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, Laos, which allows for different regulations but requires exit from Thailand every 90 days. Users advised checking with the local immigration office for the latest requirements.

If you can’t meet the 400,000 requirement, you can also apply for a NON O married to a Thai from the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet, Laos.

It is a consular document, not one issued by Thai Immigration, it cannot be “extended”, you can only return to the Savannakhet Consulate to apply for a new visa before its expiration, or make application for a NON O married to a Thai issued by your local office to maintain your status.

It requires exit from Thailand a max of every ninety days. You can exit and re-enter Thailand without a re-entry permit.

It is an option if you need time for seasoning of funds, want to switch later to having a full year of deposits for the monthly option, or you just want a simpler way to get a NON O married to a Thai.

Not for everyone, but it is an option if needed.

Suggest you ask your Thai immigration office for their list of requirements for the extension of stay as Married to Thai.

Do you have the required 400,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank in your name only? Will it have been in the account for 2 full months before you make your application ?

Thanks. Have the 400k for > 2 months, and can meet all the other requirements. Just wanted to know if it was technically possible to do a 1 year extension after doing a 2 month extension?

totally no issue at all applying for the year extension after you got the 60 day visit thai family extension. Don't wait until this stamp runs out to apply, go early in case you need another document or copy..
