Can I apply for a yearly extension based on marriage after a 60-day family visit extension if my monthly income is not accepted by immigration?

Okay, I just got my 30 day under consideration stamp after applying for one year extension based on marriage, with 400k seasoned. So I am good. Asking for a person not a member here.. Say if your local immigration office did not accept monthly income as proof of finance for applying for a yearly extension based on marriage (not the first yearly extension). Even though you have bank letter and 12 months statement showing international transfers well above the required 40k per month. Your embassy doesn't make the affidavit anymore, so you then have to put 400k in an account and season them to apply again.

If you had still some time left on your current stamp, and asked for the 60 days extension based on visiting family (the wife), giving you enough time to season the money, would you then be able to apply for the yearly extension following the 60 day extension directly, or would you need a new non-o to start the process again?

He was told to come back next week, as the IO that did not accept monthly income excused himself with the bosses being away. So maybe (hopefully) when the boss is back, they will accept the application as it is. There is also an option of getting pension papers from home country notarized at the embassy, and presenting those along with bank papers. Just thinking about what the scenario would look like, if they for some reason insists on 400k only..

I know there is Savanakhet, but this person would really like to avoid having to leave the country.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses the scenario of applying for a yearly extension based on marriage when the local immigration office does not accept monthly income as proof of finances. The person considers applying for a 60-day extension to allow time to season the required 400k THB in a bank account, and whether they can directly apply for the yearly extension after the 60-day extension without needing a new NON-O visa. Comments clarify that it is possible to use the monthly income method with documentation from international transfers and that a 60-day family visit extension can be utilized to meet the financial requirements for applying for the yearly extension.

you're just making up hypothetical 'what if' questions.

You CAN use the 40K baht monthly income method by international transfers IF your consulate doesn't issue the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter any more.

You CAN apply for a 60 day visit family extension to buy time to get your finds seasoned if you are using the bank method and then apply for the yearly extension when that runs down.

yes i get the point ;) And you are right it is a very small office, and none of the bosses where present that day. Mine was approved though, with the only difference that i used the 400k. He will go back tomorrow and hopefully things go smoothly then, and his current stamp is valid until 4th November, so there is still time. This topic was just to find out if he would need to get a new non-o or he could use the 60 day extension to get time to season money, in case that would turn out to be needed because they refuse to follow the rules.

I got that answer.

you get the point, wait for boss. Sounds like this is some small office, they really need a boss to approve.

the denial was not hypothetical. Even presented with the police order in Thai and English the IO couldn't be bothered. He demanded 400k or an affidavit (which the embassy doesn't do anymore), and could not care less about monthly income shown with international transfer. That might change when the boss is back. But thank you for the answer on the 60 day question.

unfortunately I can't help it of people don't stick up for themselves when they are fed that line of sh*t about not being able to use the monthly income method.

It IS on the books as a method.

- this denial of using monthly income is not new and it does happen. My friend was told because he is American and the U.S. Embassy had stopped issuing the Embassy Income Letter / Affidavit that he had only one choice - 800,000 banked and seasoned money. Plus I have read of other cases. Some I/Os do make up their own rules despite what the Police Orders say. Denial of the use of the mobthly income option is real from one Imm Office to another. It is not the applicants imagination. And most people are reluctant to challenge an I/O by going to a supervisor
