Is it possible to use a combination of a Thai bank deposit and monthly income to meet the 400,000 requirement for a one year extension to a non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai? I work in Thailand as a teacher but don't make 40,000 baht a month from my school salary alone. I currently am on a one year ME non-O visa but am aware Savannahkhet doesn't do that any longer without the 400,000 in the bank. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question pertains to whether a combination of a Thai bank deposit and monthly income can fulfill the 400,000 baht requirement for a one-year extension of a Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen. Several community members clarify that the financial requirement must be met through one method alone: either a legal monthly income of 40,000 baht or a bank deposit of 400,000 baht. It is noted that there is no method to combine these two sources for the visa extension purpose. Additionally, comments highlight the importance of maintaining the correct visa type to avoid legal issues related to employment.

If you're working in Thailand surely you would be on a Non B visa with the associated work permit and therefore the financial problems do not apply. However if you're working in contravention of your visa conditions then I would not be advertising it on a FB group.

, people can totally work legally with work permit when they are on Non-O visa or 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai national.

There is no contravention on this post.

easy now, they work and seeing as they work as a teacher there are NO salary minimums to hold a work permit like there are with other trades. It is not uncommon for teachers to not be able to hit the 40k per month requirement for extensions based on marriage while still legally working here

you can get a wp and work on a non o. Also better to have the security of being on a non o incase he loses his job thus has his wp/visa cancelled

thank you for your response. That's exactly why I'm on a non-O. I don't like being tied to my school.

If working should have work permit and school do visa.

they are trying to get a visa/extension based on marriage to a thai (which means you can legally work and hold a work permit) and they are trying to get OFF the Non-B supplied by the school

MANY people who are married to a thai use the marriage visa/extension to stay and still work legally here, because that way IF they lose the job they don't lose the visa/extension..

yes, thank you for explaining this. I have been in Thailand for 10 years and I have never worked illegally. Previously, I was on a non-B, but I prefer non-O because if something were to happen with my job I wouldn't have to leave. I think I will just have to use the 40,000 baht a month option which I can do if I also include my online language school teaching I do with Myanmar students. The money comes from Myanmar so I just have to report it on my tax return I imagine and combined with my regular salary I would have more than 40,000. Thanks for your help.

It's one or the other.

NB. Savanankhet doesn't have to be a Thai bank, it can be your own country's bank, equivalent to B400K, without being seasoned.

Sadly, there is no combination method to meet the financial requirements for 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai. You need to have 40K baht monthly income (legal) total or have 400K banked money. You need to check with your local office about the details of the financial requirements there.

, You need to check with your local immigration office if you can use two sources (salary and international transfer) of monthly income.

Or you may need to check the immigration, labour, and/or revenue department office to bring all your income in place.

Unfortunately, it's beyond the scope of this group.
