Can I extend my visa-exempt entry in Thailand and apply for a 60-day tourist visa during my second entry?

Entered Thailand on a visa free 30 day. There now.

Couple questions:

1. If we extend this one to 60 days.

And then return to Thailand in November, getting a 2nd 30 day visa free, can our 2nd visa also be extended?

1. As we are currently under a 30 day visa on arrival, if we extended that, can we then apply for the 60 day tourist visa as our 2nd entry to Thailand which we have planned for November?

(Usual apologies if this has been answered but like everyone I got some information but not quite my situation)

NZ Passport btw

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user entered Thailand on a visa-exempt basis for 30 days and inquired about extending this stay and applying for a 60-day tourist visa upon a second entry. Comments confirmed that the initial entry (visa exempt) can be extended by an additional 30 days. However, applying for a tourist visa must be done outside of Thailand, at a Thai embassy or consulate in a neighboring country.

You cannot apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand. You however can do so at the Thai embassy and consulates in Thailand’s neighboring countries

Just travel abroad and find out

Would go for the 60 day visa, everytime knowing the visit will last more than 30 days.

It’s cheaper,

Everything cleared before departure from the comfort of home,

No need for onward ticket within the first 30 days,

Not wasting precious holidaytime to find, go to & wait at a Immigration office,

Can be extended 30 days.

You're probably not using visa on arrival but "30 days visa exempt" which is NO visa. This can be extended by 30 days.

I guess you're not on a visa on arrival but visa exempt. Each visa exempt entry can be extended by 30 days

yes that is accurate. Thanks.

So just pop into an immigration office right? They typically take a few days?

, to be fast, make photocopy of your passport pages and bring some of your ID photos too. They need a photo on your application.
