Can I extend my stay in Thailand with a DTV visa and how does it affect the NON-O visa for married expats?

Here is a question that we may not the answer to but I will ask. With DTV you can enter for 180 days then leave the country come back and get another 180 days?

Also one of the possibilities is based on marriage so I will this affect the non-o based on marriage? Does it become useless?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV (Digital Work Visa) allows multiple entries, granting a 180-day stay upon each entry. This is beneficial for those needing flexibility. For individuals married to Thai nationals, the DTV may become a preferred option over the NON-O visa, which typically requires yearly immigration visits. There are talks of retirees and expats transitioning to the DTV for its 5-year duration without annual renewal hassles, making it an attractive alternative.

Many retirees will be creating a portfolio of fake work to prove freelance worker

Doesn't even have to be fake. Start up a YouTube channel and post a stupid Thailand video once a week. Easy enough to be a digital nomad

I think a lot of retirees and married to Thai on non-O visas will be switching to DTV. The 5-year tenure is very attractive without the need to go to immigration every year. Those who have purchased Elite and LTR visas will be kicking themselves now

Yeah, it's soooo much work to extend the permission to stay once a year at immigration. The DTV isn't actually designed for retirees.

But why bother with all that 800k/65k stuff, and a visit to immigration every year, when you can snap up five years with 500k in an Aussie bank account? Come on, show some common sense!

correct but for those retirees who have a work contract outside of Thailand it would work

Not the LTR as you are stamped in for 5 years with no 90 day reporting- nothing is better than that. The Elite visa is another story

LTR is 50k, DTV is 10k. If you think that avoiding 90-day reports is worth 40k I guess that's your choice! πŸ˜‚

It's a multi-entry visa. You'll get 180 days on every return.

It’s a multiple entry visa so it seems you can leave and return as many times as you like and you’ll be stamped in for 180 days each time.

The spouse part is for someone who has a spouse with a DTV - not a Thai spouse.
