How can I extend my stay in Thailand after 180 days on a DTV visa?
I have just being approved (DTV) by the Spanish Embassy.
My experience has been as follows:
1. Bank Statements: I provided bank statements for the last 6 months for at least 500k baths during the period.
1. Payroll: I submitted my last 2 payrolls.
1. Employment Contract: Although I mentioned that I was going to work on projects as the clients demands and was not on the payroll, the company provided an official letter confirming this situation.
1. Purpose of Visit: They asked for a letter explaining what I would be doing in Thailand. Since I work for a Corporate Incentive Travel agency, I explained that my goal was to get to know the country on a firsthand to recommend Thailand as a destination to our clients.
1. Additional Documents: I also included the rental contract of the house we had rented + health insurance by AXA that my husband and I obtained + medical certificate confirming that we do not have any diseases required for the OA non-immigrant visa, which my husband is also applying for at the same time.
Uffff so release with the news.
Question; My purpose is to stay for 8 months in Koh Samui, so to extend for 2 more months (6+2), should I change my visa after the 180 days? Should I stay as a tourist? Thanks in advance

- Last week I wrote them an email but it seems that it wasn't the right one... yesterday I tried again with another email and they replied asking me when I travel to Thailand... my travel date is on 4.10... so it doesn't make much sense why my visa application is taking so long... 🤷🏻♂️🙃Elena ***************

OPYou have to phone call to the Embassy between 15:00-17:00. It seems they are going to hang up, but wait, and press 102 for the extension. You will find a lady that she will clarify your doubts, be patient with her, at the end she is really nice

I am now confused by your post.
First... Congratulations on your approval for the 5 year DVT visa.
On arrival into Thailand you will be stamped in for 180 days.
And can be extended for an ADDED 180 days at your local Thai Immigration office.
OR you can do a simple border bounce by land or Air. Each Time you enter Thailand you will get 180 day stamp...
That is true for the entire 5 years that the DTV visa is issued.
Your husband as your spouse can also get the DVT visa as spouse with proof of your marriage and application for the DVT visa.
There's no need for him to get the OA Visa.

The matter is that my husband started the proceed before me for the OA visa.Since I am not yet 50 years old, I am 48 years old, we were not very sure which visa I had to apply for. It seems that the spouse of those who have an OA visa only can apply for an O visa, which is "single entry" and therefore did not suit our needs. So I applied for the DTV visa, something we were not very sure what the outcome would be. The fact is that my husband is now "pending approval" with his OA visa!

I believe getting the DTV visa for your husband is a wiser choice vs OA Visa for retirement.The DVT visa is issued for 5 years...
The OA Visa is one year with health insurance required.
And the OA Visa can be extended up to One year by careful planning...but again requires health insurance.
AND beyond the second year, with the OA you either return to your home country and get a new one. Or deposit 800,000 Thai baht in a Thai bank account in your husband's name only. With health insurance required.

that's correct ✅ and that's why I mentioned any land or Air border bounce AND re-entry gets a New 180 day stamp... for the entire 5 years of the DVT visa.Btw.... there's still no list of requirements for the 180 Day extension done inside Thailand at your local Thai Immigration office. Only rumors. It's all too soon to know... and it's also possible the requirements for the DTV extension might be different in the 80 + Thai Immigration offices.
