Can I obtain a re-entry permit while transitioning from an O visa to a DTV visa in Thailand?

Currently on a O visa, married to a Thai National till February 2025.

Can I get a re entry permit, leave and apply for the DTV in a neighbouring country like Laos and if successful, enter on the DTV then go to Thai immigration to cancel my O visa?

I’d get the re entry permit as I don’t want to loose my O visa if rejected for the DTV.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-O visa due to marriage to a Thai citizen until February 2025 and inquires about obtaining a re-entry permit to leave Thailand, apply for a DTV visa in Laos, and then cancel their O visa. In the comments, users clarify that they cannot hold two stay permits simultaneously and must invalidate their current O visa before applying for a new visa.

you will need to invalidate your existing stay permit based on being married to a Thai wife, before you can apply for a new visa. You cannot have two visa or stay permits at the same time. The easiest way to invalidate your Non-Imm-O marriage visa (you probably don't have a visa at all but are on the "one-year extension of stay based on being married to a thai wife") is to exit Thailand WITHOUT a re-entry permit

No. You have to end your O visa before applying

I read that people are doing that on Ed visas. Are you sure it’s not possible?
