Hi! Iโm on a Non-O yearly extension (marriage). I want to apply for DTV in Laos or Vietnam. Can I get a re-entry permit just in case my DTV application gets rejected (or handed back)?
If yes, does my extension invalidates itself upon entering Thailand with a fresh new DTV? Or they wonโt accept my application at the consulate because of a re-entry permit? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a Non-O yearly extension based on marriage and is seeking advice on applying for a DTV visa in Laos or Vietnam. They ask whether they can obtain a re-entry permit while applying for the DTV and if entering Thailand on a new DTV will invalidate their current extension. Responses indicate that individuals have successfully applied for DTVs while holding valid extensions with re-entry permits, and a new DTV does not automatically cancel the existing extension, which must be officially canceled at an immigration office.
received at least one report from Vientiane that they issued the DTV with an active re-entry permit.

This question is comin' up more and more as people currently on year visa/extensions want to go get a DTV but don't want to cancel their current visa/extension before they left.
People have got DTV's approved and entered the country on them while they had valid extensions w/re-entry permit for a different visa type.

you have to apply using the relevant Thai embassy to your location. There are no Thai embassies inside Thailand so you have to go somewhere to apply using whatever method your location dictates
