Hello everyone at the Visa community! I need some advice about the 60 day-visa to Thailand, Hua Hin! I've signed a contract for a long-term house. I was told by a visa agent in Bangkok that I could extend this another 30 days. Now she advised me that she needs to have now a flight ticket with me flying to one of the border countries, otherwise the Thai embassy will refuse my 60-day visa! I was under the impression that I could do a border run to Cambodia when I arrived at Hua Hin! So I need the communities advice on this urgent matter as I will arrive in Bangkok on Sunday the 30th of April. I'm using the agency BaanSmile and they said they could help me out with the 60 day-visa! I'm an Ex brit squaddie who has been living in Germany for many years now.

What??? You don't need an agent for a 60day tourist visa. Apply yourself. Get a stamp upon arrival and in 60days extend. After that extension you can think about a visa run. Ex soldier here too 🇮🇪

Stay away from agents unless absolutely necessary. This is the first post I saw someone getting using an agent for a
*****
tourist visa. It may look difficult but it’s very easy. Buy a cheap $38 ticket out of the country such as to Singapore. Problem solved. Or get a refundable ticket so cost you $0. Easy peasy no agent required. Wasting money on an agent for a tourist visa just feels like a bad idea.

If arriving on Sunday, just arrive on 30 Day Visa Exempt, it may still be 45 days at the time of arrival. Near the end of your Visa Exempt, simply apply for a 30 day extension at the local immigration office, usually granted.

You need an onward ticket. When I applied for my 60 day TR visa, my flight was 90 days from my arrival flight. Accepted , no problem .

Ah. Coincidence that you have posted this one . I want to come over in May on a 60 day tourist visa too. However I want to extend it to 90 days upon arrival . My question is. As I need a return flight ticket upon application for the visa. Do I get a 90 day return ticket or will I have to buy a return within 60 days and change the flight (at expense) upon doing so ? Any help or advice would be most welcome .

@Andrew ******
get a changeable ticket or Google onward flight and rent one for $10.

What is onward flight and “rent one for $10”?
Stuart *********
@Cindy *****
you basically rent a valid, checkable, ticket for 2 weeks or so for around $10.

You need to apply via the Evisa website before you arrive in Thailand. Follow the application process for the TR Visa(60 days tourist visa)
Will ************
When you apply for your 60day tourist visa you MUST apply here
****************************
you must supply an arrival date and an exit date to get your visa. This is your ONLY method of applying

Why would you sign a long term lease if you are not in Thailand? Why not check things out before you make any major decisions?

I can give one month's notice and go somewhere else if I want to!
David *********
And hope you get your two months deposit back?
Frank **********
@William ******
lol it may not be as easy as that unless it is in your lease agreement.

If you have a 60 day visa before your arrival stamped in your passpassport then after 60 days you can extend for another 30 days at your local immigration office then you can do a boarder run for a further extension .
Martin *********
If someone has a 60 day visa it will have a end date if someone wants to stay longer they will make arrangements prior to this date to extend their stay we are going round in circles. That's rubbish I know people that have extended thier stay 2 days after thier visa expired
Martin *********
@Wayne ********
extension of thier stay in Thailand. As I said your being pedantic to the extreme. Well obviously if your 60 day visa expires its not a extension of the visa its the extension of your stay in Thailand. Just like your observation do a run I understand what your saying iam not nit picking your words .
Wayne *********
@Martin ********
you can not extend anything once the visa expires your on overstay. You can not get extension of stay once the visa expires you need to do it before.
Wayne *********
@Martin ********
no not pedantic. You need to use correct wording. I understand the system but many as per this post don't hence the questions they ask so the information needs to be accurate. What if they thanked you for your advice and go to immigration after the 60 days as you advised then get charged overstay and the extension refused are you going to say sorry ?
Wayne *********
@Martin ********
no quite correct. Must apply for the 30 day extension before 60 days expires not after and TR60 visa can only be extended once. Border run will get them 30days exempt stamp not another extension on the visa
Martin *********
@Wayne ********
yes but I think that's a obvious conclusion that you renew one visa before the last one expires. Your playing with words you understood what I was saying your being pedantic. Iam sure the person the advice was ment for understood as they thanked me.
Wayne *********
@Martin ********
and you can not do a run and get a 2nd extension so incorrect info
Wayne *********
@Martin ********
but others may not understand so best to word it correctly.

You need to give us more info about where you currently are and where you are looking to get a visa from.

Ok so you apply via the evisa system. You’ll need to provide proof of residence in Germany. You don’t need an agent. It’s online. You just click and proceed to next question. Give them what they want and you’ll get your visa.
Frank **********
Listen to what Brandon told you. He is very knowledgeable.

You need to give more detail. What you're asking about is a mess.

What passport do you have? Where are you? Are you currently in Thailand or are you applying for a tourist visa outside of Thailand? If so where.

You say you've taken a long term lease? What are your plans moving forward?

At a guess I think you're looking to apply fora 60 day tourist visa that can be extended once for 30 days.

You will need an onward ticket out of Thailand within the initial 60 day period. One of the "onward ticket" sites might fit the bill. Don't use an agent. They always lie. Do it yourself and learn by doing.
Brandon ************
Why are you talking to a visa agent in Thailand? You said you are going to get a 60 day visa, which means a tourist visa that you apply for from where you are. No visa agent in Thailand can help you with that. Every consulate has their own list of requirements that is different, so you need to indicate where you will be applying for your visa.

Most consulates require you to show proof of flying to Thailand from where you are applying from, and proof of leaving Thailand within 60 days in order to apply for the visa. What you can do is google "Onward travel ticket" and rent a fully valid plane ticket form an agency to use for this type of thing. Generally costs about $10-$15.

@William ******
getting a tourist visa is absurdly easy, you are indeed being taken advantage of
Roberto *********
@William ******
You're being conned. The agent in Thailand has no influence over the embassy in your home country or in your country of residence. As Brandon has said, you get it yourself through eVisa. Also, you do not need to do any border bounces. The 60-day visa can be extended at an immigration office in Thailand.

@William ******
word of advice, if I may be so bold. Don't go telling everyone you're an ex squadie, they'll have one eye on your pension the whole time. Visa agents are not regulated, not trained and usually become an agent because they have an aunty or uncle working in an immigration office somewhere up north. Don't trust them

Dealing with visas isn't that complicated and if you can manage to use a photocopier and a stapler without injuring yourself then you can do all this on your own.
