How difficult is it for a Thai national to obtain a tourist visa for a short-term stay in Australia?

It is a lot easier than in the past to get an approval for a tourist visa and can be all done online now using the Immi Account system.

Do Australians currently need a visa to enter Vietnam or is there a visa exemption like in Thailand?

if you in Aussie then get the Visa from the Vietnamese Embassy in Canberra. Then you are 100% sure it is legit. I go in and out of VN on an infrequent basis for business using an APEC card for entry so am exempt from getting a visa but I have seen the lines at the LV counter and they are insanley long at times
