Just finished speaking to the Canadian embassy and they advised me to either a get a lawyer or be just book a flight and head to the airport they didn't feel that it was anything serious and they also strongly recommended to stay away from the police station 🤷🏾♂️
What happened was I was driving with another Foreigner on a motorbike I was driving the motorbike in Phuket and a dog right onto the road suddenly and we hit the dog my friend injured his leg and ended up in the hospital... he asked me if there was any insurance that the motorbike rental company to provide so I asked them and they said in order to do so that he would have to say that he was the driver to get the insurance he agreed gave me his passports and I went with the motorbike company to make a police... Both passports were photocopied and entered in the statements... Then in the end he finds out that the insurance would only cover in 30,000 out of the 80,000 baht told me that I should pay the remainder of the bill because I was the driver and from Canada and I should have the money... (He's from India) At this point I already had a plate book back to come Bangkok within that week and then he got a friend involved who has a police officer friend and said that if we went to the police station there would be a way to fix everything... I ended up going into the police station... the police threatened to charge me for dangerous driving ordered me to pay remainder of his bill and $10,000 baht to the officer to make everything go away... I ended up leaving the police station packing up my stuff which was already half ready and heading back to Bangkok the next day which I had a ticket book for a week... Now I'm here in Bangkok and planning on heading out in the next two weeks and just wondering what's the best thing I should do
