TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around the process of finding out whether there is an arrest warrant for someone in Thailand without directly attending a police station. Various suggestions are made by commenters, including walking into a police station and checking with immigration officials. Some humorously suggest bribing a friendly police officer, while others recommend contacting a lawyer or even the embassy for assistance. Overall, there's a strong emphasis on caution and the importance of legal advice when dealing with potential warrant issues.

90 day report is good. If you try online and it says contact office then maybe,
Don't worry too much they will want to hear your side of the story first before they actually arrest you so it may just be an order to attend and hear charges.

Just finished speaking to the Canadian embassy and they advised me to either a get a lawyer or be just book a flight and head to the airport they didn't feel that it was anything serious and they also strongly recommended to stay away from the police station 🤷🏾♂️
What kind of stupid question is this. My guess is he slept with a underage girl and she tried to blackmail him, so he ran. Now he doesn't know if she ever did.

Talk to a lawyer, it's usually free to talk.No one here is qualified to give legal advise!
What happened was I was driving with another Foreigner on a motorbike I was driving the motorbike in Phuket and a dog right onto the road suddenly and we hit the dog my friend injured his leg and ended up in the hospital... he asked me if there was any insurance that the motorbike rental company to provide so I asked them and they said in order to do so that he would have to say that he was the driver to get the insurance he agreed gave me his passports and I went with the motorbike company to make a police... Both passports were photocopied and entered in the statements... Then in the end he finds out that the insurance would only cover in 30,000 out of the 80,000 baht told me that I should pay the remainder of the bill because I was the driver and from Canada and I should have the money... (He's from India) At this point I already had a plate book back to come Bangkok within that week and then he got a friend involved who has a police officer friend and said that if we went to the police station there would be a way to fix everything... I ended up going into the police station... the police threatened to charge me for dangerous driving ordered me to pay remainder of his bill and $10,000 baht to the officer to make everything go away... I ended up leaving the police station packing up my stuff which was already half ready and heading back to Bangkok the next day which I had a ticket book for a week... Now I'm here in Bangkok and planning on heading out in the next two weeks and just wondering what's the best thing I should do
stated please don't take legal advice from a Facebook group. None of us know what has or hasn't happened so far as arrest warrents. You have interacted with the police and they have your passport details.
Go and get yourself a Lawyer and take proper advice.
speaking to a thai friend of mine who owns a motorcycle hire company. How did you rack up a bill of

baht? Yes the company will pay

maximum. It's got nothing to do with the police and you should not engage with them. You should certainly not pay them any money! Don't worry about who was the driver because anyone on the motorcycle is insured. The accident was because of a dog not dangerous driving. I can guarantee the police don't have a warrant for your arrest.
You're fine. Almost 0 chance the Indian guy pressed charges, that wouldn't even be a criminal issue, it's civil.

The best advice is contact your embassy to explain the situation and what happened when you tried to resolve the matter at a police station.
If a formal complaint has been made with the police, it will show up when you try to exit the country and the immigration police aren't especially renowned for their sympathy.
If the bike was rented in his name and he claimed to be the driver, it should be simpler to resolve. But as experience has already proved, it's better to have somebody in a stronger official capacity to resolve the matter with you in Thailand because the police are always looking for tea money.
You may end up paying the remainder of the bill if you need to dispose of the matter quickly because resolving a disputed payment through the courts can be a long and drawn out procedure

If you have one, you will be arrested when going out of the country or requesting extension of stay anyway. So better check now and demonstrate you're repented guy if there is any warrant. Thai police love surrendering people.

Getting out of the country is usually not an issue. Very porous borders. Look at the Brit kickboxer who killed the American marine in Phuket. Into Cambodia, flew through Singapore to London. Doubt Thailand would ever have requested extradition but USA authorities rightly kept on the case. Doing life sentence in Thailand now
I reckon in this case he had ran out of tea money so they nabbed him before it was too late. Thai police can get monetary awards in certain cases such as value of drugs or illegal luxury cars
Yeah I guess leaving Thailand by land is not necessary the problem. I don't think the cambodian immigration is really checking the exit stamp from Thailand.
Most who go that route do not get stamped into Cambodia either. Remember 4 years ago one boiler room guy had another shot in Pattaya? The guy who ordered it was caught in Cambodia. Arrested for entering Cambodia illegally. Served sentence in Cambodia for that. Has never faced charges in Thailand and Thailand never requested him back
See that guy in Hua Hin arrested last week? They waited until right at the end of statute of limitations to arrest him. Been roaming around thinking he was free for years

A warrent for what? A criminal matter or immigartion matter?
I am sorry for my earlier stupid remark. My experience in Thailand is that the "letter of the law" doesn't always apply and these things are "fluid". But, you are correct. That is the law.
Jump right in there with a two footed tackle. 😇🤣🤣😂

How long have you been in Thailand? Where I live I drink with police. All you need to do is find a friendly young policeman and give him 500 baht to enquire. If it comes back bad, have 20,000 baht ready. Problem solved.

false information. If a police officer enters a criminal's passport number and sees that there is a warrant for his arrest, they will have to arrest the criminal. If he does not arrest, it means that he has released the criminal, and he may lose his job.
it really does depend on how serious the crime is. For instance if it is a crime against a child, a significant robbery, large volume drugs, or a murder there is no quarter given.
how long have you lived in Thailand? The "letter of the law" is a flexible boundary in my experience. Of course there are police that follow the letter of the law, but it often depends on the seriousness of crime, surrender, apology, asking for forgiveness and financial compensation as settlement outside of court.
I'm not saying they don't do illegal business or take bribes. I'm talking about what they can't do even if they wanted to. If you find a police chief, that's another job.
correct. If you keep track of the speed at which arrests are made here it constantly amazes me how well they respond to serious crime. Even Ferrari Joe knew he wouldn't last long in the "wild"
yeah, I have a Thai mate out on bail for a triple shooting. 6 shots, 2 dead, one critical. He has been out on bail for a year. The victims were known to police and he really did the police a favour but still cost him dearly.
a good lawyer with contacts that is willing to do this for money can't be trusted. What is to stop him from to talking to the police, discovering he is wanted and cut a deal with the police to extort more money?

It used to be advised apply for a visa at an Embassy and if refused you know there is a black mark. I would not try that personally 😇😅

The computer systems are too busy to make any matches of information 🤷🏻♂️
immigration has the info. Believe me. They know every record of you in Thailand that can connect you to your passport number. The only way they don't is if you haven't had your passport number attached to your police record, been fingerprinted or biometric scanned.

Go into a police station, any station will do. Hand over your passport and ask them to see if they can find you on their computer.
