I also read they were trying to limit the ‘dirty farang’ who are the backbone of some Thai places. A good Thai friend has a place near the Cambodian border and he is suffering - the less-monied but not totally cash-strapped we’re his bread and butter.

again did not know this. I’m a resident so have not had to get a post COVID tourist visa. My husband came for a visit in January and is still here on tourist visa, so no application for visa post COVID . Obviously much has changed.

I say this as I am in hospital with bacterial pneumonia and I do have health insurance. - luckily.

no no no.. sorry I didn’t mean that... of course quarantine but health insurance should be mandatory rather than blanket bank statement.

I’d have thought comprehensive COVID health insurance would be better. If my husband goes back to Oz without spousal visa, we’d be pushed to have this kind of documentation for him to visit. Mmmmm...

17k USD? Do you have to produce it? Show bank statements? How will this kick start the Thai tourist economy? The few times I’ve been in Khao San area ii has been just awful. I’ve been going to a spa there for almost 15!years and they (as well as others ) have been crippled. We’re in the process of getting a spousal visa fir my husband - what a debacle that has been!

Question: since when does it require 17K for tourist visa? I’m ok have work permit... just curious.
