@Jef *******
Or a genuine 12-month non-O retirement visa (not funded by an agent)

DTV_Begpacker Exactly. I fully expect all the other banks to follow the way Bangkok Bank is going. When people are saying "Go to Kasikorn, go to Krungsri" I'm just laughing and thinking to myself "forgive them Lord, they know not what they are doing"!

First advice I always give someone when going to a bank is to take a Thai friend with them, otherwise you'll end up paying for a whole heap of services you don't want and don't need. It sounds like a fixed savings account, which are a pain in the ass. If you haven't already given them any money, just go and say "no want". They'll get it!

DTV_Begpacker Actually, it'll probably get even more difficult. Banks are under intense scrutiny by the regulator, and bank staff have already been sacked at Pattaya, no doubt for accepting bribes to open mule and agent accounts. I expect the scrutiny of applicants to intensify in the next few years

@Graham *****
Nope! I'm still right. If an agent was used to open an account, a bribe would have been paid to a bank official. Unless of course you're one of these twats who claim "Hey, TiT, corruption of bank officials and government officers is perfectly legal" 😂😂😂

Already well known in expat circles. The 90-day report is made when a foreigner has been in the country for 90 days. It has no connection to visa or extension

@Graham *****
Illegal or against bank policy. Doesn't make much difference to the account holder does it? 😂😂😂
Mark ********
It's immigration not customs who do the scan. Just show your hand first to the immigration officer so they're aware of the situation. You wouldn't be the only person in such a situation

If you opened the account through an agent it will probably be closed as these are the illegal accounts the bank is targeting. You won't lose the money but you will need to be in the country to obtain it. I suggest you get the non-O visa in your home country before coming back and you might be able to reactivate the account, as these visas are legal for bank accounts
