@Benjamin *****
Thanks for such an informative reply. Sorry for the "asking for a friend" but I am genuinely doing that. They are not on this forum and need an answer today. I will pass on what you have shared and ask them to join and post their own question if questions remain. But, thanks again. Your quick and detailed answer is very much appreciated.

Has been working since September 2020, so assume it is an extension of stay, right? Been doing 90 day reporting since December. Is the visa not cancelled when the work permit is?

RTE London is closed for all visa applications until further notice. However, you can apply for a CoE. Once granted, you can then apply for a Non-B visa.

Sorry to say, who ever has advised you that any foreigner can travel Thailand at the present time is incorrect. Not possible under any circumstances.

The ask:thailand community, consisting of multiple Q/A groups with over 100,000 members, powers this platform. It is not an official government resource. Our members actively contribute to this resource, and while we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee its complete reliability. Assistance to travelers is provided as a community service.
