TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the desire of an expat couple (Ruud and Saskia) settled in Udon, Thailand, to obtain a long-term visa (preferably a 10-year visa). They currently have a one-year visa but were informed by an immigration officer that the 10-year visa process is complicated. The conversation explores different visa options available, including the long-term resident (LTR) visa and the non-immigrant O-X visa specifically for Dutch citizens. Various commenters provide insights on costs, documentation, and the advantages of different visa types, emphasizing an annual fee of 5,000 THB for the LTR and less frequent reporting requirements compared to yearly visas.
